Wedding Gown Alterations - What to expect!

Congratulations on finding “The One!”
I can’t wait to see you in your gown and want to give you an idea of what to expect when you attend your fittings.
Your fittings will begin approximately 10–12 weeks prior to your wedding day to ensure the best possible fit. Most brides will attend three appointments during this time, allowing for fittings and completion of the work to your gown. This timeframe may be adjusted in certain circumstances, such as pregnancy.
If you are planning to tone up or lose weight before your wedding, please ensure that your weight is stable by your first fitting. Any additional alterations required due to weight change will be chargeable, as it is not possible to fit a dress accurately to a changing shape. If your weight is likely to fluctuate due to medication or pregnancy, please let me know in advance so I can plan accordingly.
Please arrive promptly for your fittings and bring your shoes, undergarments and any shapewear (if required). I’m unable to carry out fittings without these, as they are essential for achieving the correct fit.
Bra cups can be fitted to most gowns, particularly those with low necklines where wearing a bra may not be suitable. Please let me know at your first fitting if you would like to explore this option.
Every bride and every gown is different, so alterations are priced individually based on the work required, the construction of the gown, and the fabrics involved. A full quote will always be provided at your first fitting before any work is undertaken.
Most brides typically invest from £225–£475, depending on the structure, fabric and level of detail involved. Dresses with illusion bodices, lace, beading, corsetry or more extensive structural work may fall outside this range, while very simple alterations may be at the lower end.
I work on everything from straightforward alterations to more extensive reworking and bespoke customisation.
Initial consultations are available during the off-season (October–February) for those who already have their gown and would like an idea of alterations and cost prior to booking. These are particularly useful for brides considering customisation or more extensive alterations.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required before any work begins, with the remaining balance payable at your final fitting once you are happy with the completed gown. Both card and cash payments are accepted.
You’re very welcome to bring any accessories you’d like to try with your gown. All fittings are private appointments, giving you plenty of time to ensure everything feels just right.
I look forward to working with you and seeing you in your beautiful gown.
